    Art Martin

    Mr. Martin joined the Handmaker team in 2004 as the Chief Operating Officer. After four years of successfully streamlining and transforming Handmaker’s lines of business the Board of Directors made him the Chief Operating Officer as of January 1, 2008. Prior to joining the Handmaker team, Mr. Martin held an operations position with a Fortune 500 senior living company, Kindred Healthcare. At the time Kindred recruited Mr. Martin he was working for the Arizona Department of Health Services as a skilled nursing inspection specialist.

    Mr. Martin obtained his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University, and then moved to Tucson in 1998 to obtain his Master’s in Public Health, from the Mel and Enid Zuckerman School of Public Health at the University of Arizona. In order to better understand the business aspect of health care, Mr. Martin returned to the U of A and graduated from the Karl Eller School of Business with his MBA.

    Gary Lochowitz

    Gary Lochowitz is the Vice President of Operations at Handmaker. He has been working in the Health Care Field for over 20+ years, but specifically working with Older Adults for the past 15 years (the last 7 years at Handmaker).

    Gary began his career counseling teenagers in the inner city of Chicago. He relocated to England in 1990 and began working in London with Adults with Developmental Disabilities/and or Mental Illness. In 1997 he moved to the south coast of England and managed a Day Centre for Older Adults and then became a Manager of a Residential Home and Day Centre for older adults. In 2004 he re-located back to the US and to Tucson Arizona where he was hired as the Director of Care Management at Handmaker Management Enterprises. In 2005 he became the Director of Assisted Living and Community Services at Handmaker. Gary recently passed his Administrator Exams and became the Administrator at Handmaker in the summer of 2011.

    Gary has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In 2002 he obtained a Diploma in Higher Education in Social Care Management and a National Vocational Qualification in Management (Level 4) from the University of Portsmouth, England.
